The HCC/Newspring Business Plan Competition

Participating in the business plan competition forced me to take the business ideas lingering around in my mind and get them on paper. It was a great opportunity for me to receive direction with my career goals.  I am happy to say that as a result of the competition, I am closer to fulfilling my desire of becoming a successful entrepreneur.

After completing the business plan competition there was still plenty of work for me to do to get going.  I still needed more wisdom, more knowledge, more contacts, and more direction.  The HCC Center for Entrepreneurship along with its affiliates such as Newspring offered some great opportunities to assist me with my needs.  I took a class with the HCC Center for Entrepreneurship to learn more about small business management, I maintained contact with a mentor from the Newspring/HCC business plan competition who gave and is still giving me me excellent advise,  and I attended seminars and gatherings for these organizations to stay in the loop of successful individuals with a heart to help entrepreneurs.

“The Fall HCC Entrepreneurship Day Conference…outstanding!”

In the fall of 2009, I attended the HCC Entrepreneurship Conference.  This ‘FREE’ conference included many great speakers with a plethora of business knowledge.  I took plenty pages of notes which will definitely benefit me as I continue to pursue my entrepreneurship goals.  One of the lines that I highlighted from a magnificent presenter at the conference was, “It’s all about how you perform, not what you know!”  I am so glad HCC offers such great business skills enhancement opportunities.  Opportunities that really help.
