Hussain Ali is the founder of HD2Menus.com, an all-in-one digital menu solution. He started the company after having worked in a broad-based digital signage company to get practical experience and then go out on his own.  Ali had begun to develop multiple user-friendly solutions for digital menu use and supporting services.  A class at Houston Community College and the HCC Newspring Business Plan Competition (BPC) this past spring helped Ali develop a focused launch-and-growth plan to start a company solely devoted to serving this evolving and specialized space in the market.  Hussain Ali and his partner Irtiz Aarin placed third in the competition.  They used the prize money toward opening a new office and showroom in Katy, Texas and they have also brought on another full-time employee.   In October 2015, Mr. Ali won a National Student Entrepreneur Award and $750 cash prize from the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship.
2017 Update: A Houston focus and online presence have led to national and international business.  Ali was featured on the June 2016 issue of ChannelPro Magazine.  Recent projects have included signage for the Houston Museum of Natural Science and an agreement to do the digital menus for all new Bullritos franchised locations; this from a contact he made at the 2015 HCC Newspring Awards ceremony.  Ali’s first full year of operation brought in over $500,000 in revenues for HD2Menus.  Ali is now an advocate of HCC entrepreneurship, speaking on radio shows and offering testimonials in a variety of mediums, while he also promotes HD2Menus.  He has also generously donated $1,000 in prize money to the 2017 HCC Newspring Business Plan Competition and is doing so again for the 2018 BPC.  In May 2017,  Houston Dynamic Displays won the American Marketing Association Crystal Award for the category – Largest Video Wall in Houston for his digital signage at the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

Looking for funding for the new growth avenues that you’ll pursue in your marketing plan?  A Houston District SBA representative will be on hand to relay a wealth of opportunities offered through the SBA and strategic partners! Valerie Maher, Lead Economic Development Specialist, Houston District Office – Prior to joining the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Houston District Office in January 2017, Ms. Maher spent the previous 10 years working for the SBA’s National Guaranty Purchase Center in Herndon, VA as a Supervisory Loan Specialist. Ms. Maher was responsible for reviewing the origination, closing, servicing, and liquidation of 7a loans in order to process lender guaranty claims on defaulted small business loans. In her new role, Ms. Maher collaborates with an extensive network of public and private sector partners and represents the SBA at a variety of public functions through outreach and presentations/trainings in order to educate the small business community and economic development stakeholders about SBA programs and services and other small business topics.  Prior to joining the SBA, Ms. Maher processed and underwrote real estate loans. Ms. Maher is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a BBA in Management Information Systems.
