Our Programs
Classes & Certificates
Houston Community College offers entrepreneurship classes for those who seek to develop a business idea into a new business of their own and for those who want to expand their existing business. Our entrepreneurship students often have a skill or passion they want to turn into a livelihood and they seek the knowledge to lead them down that path. Our program features 11 classes focused on just that.
Three classes lead to a Business Plan Certificate. We also offer an 8-course One-Year Certificate in Entrepreneurship. Students can take one class or more depending upon their specific needs. Subjects include Introduction to Business, Accounting, Marketing, Human Resources, Business Law, Entrepreneurial Cooperative Education, Entrepreneurial Opportunity Analysis and Thinking, Business Plan Development and much more. Classes are offered for College Credit and some campuses offer the same classes for Continuing Education credit.

Newspring Business Plan Competition
Our annual Business Plan Competition, co-sponsored by HCC BizConnect Centers for Entrepreneurship and our strategic partner, Newspring, is an extraordinary opportunity for HCC students to learn how to develop a business plan. Students work with business mentors, faculty sponsors and benefit from training sessions conducted by Newspring. Competition winners receive prize money to get started. Each contestant team must have one member who has completed either HCC’s Small Business Management-An Entrepreneurial approach class, or the classes offered as part of the HCC Business Plan Certificate.
Workshops & Seminars
Houston Community College offers excellent entrepreneurial workshops, seminars, day conferences and boot camps in collaboration with our community based strategic partners. Most seminars are held weekday evenings or on Saturdays for the convenience of working adults and students. Programs include inspiring successful entrepreneurs, overviews on each element of starting and running your own business, focused sessions on emarketing, cash management, business plans, lender panels and networking opportunities to connect participants with the business community and local resources.
