15-151212 Jan 2016 Funding EventHouston Community College offers excellent entrepreneurial workshops, seminars, day conferences and boot camps in collaboration with our community based strategic partners.  Seminars and workshop are held during normal business hours as well as on weekday evenings and Saturdays for the convenience of working adults and students. Programs include inspiring successful entrepreneurs, overviews on each element of starting and running your own business, focused sessions on emarketing, cash management, business plans, lender panels and networking opportunities to connect participants with the business community and local resources.

HCC Newspring Business Plan Competition

JV1_6514 (1)Our annual Business Plan Competition, co-sponsored by the Center for Entrepreneurship-HCC NW and our strategic partner, Newspring, is an extraordinary opportunity for HCC students to get training and mentoring about developing a solid, focused plan to start or grow a business.  Contestants accepted into the competition win access to business mentors and trainers for three months within this working competition.  They benefit from training sessions conducted by Newspring at HCC Spring Branch and from one-on-one advising time with two mentors assigned to each contestant team throughout the competition.  In addition, competition winners receive prize money to go towards implementing their plans to start or grow their business.  At least one member of each contestant team must have completed either a prerequisite course at HCC or have graduated from the HCC Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Initiative.


College Credit Classes & Certificates

06132016_Business_bannerHouston Community College offers entrepreneurship classes for those who seek to develop a business idea into a new business of their own and for those who want to expand their existing business.  Our entrepreneurship students often have a skill or passion they want to turn into a livelihood and they seek the knowledge to lead them down that path. Our program features classes focused on just that.

Take some individual classes or earn one of our featured certificates specializing in entrepreneurship, or international business.  You can also earn a two-year AAS degrees in business, marketing or international business.    For some certificates, there are prerequisite courses that will be required for some students.  For a larger listing of these certificates and more click on the gold link below.

Those interested can also can take just one class or more depending upon individual needs.  Subjects include Introduction to Business, Accounting, Marketing, Business Law, Cooperative Education, Entrepreneurship and Economic Development, Small Business Management and much more.


Online Continuing Education Courses for Small Business Owners & Their Employees

Entrepreneurial S15777HCC also offers focused, affordable online small business classes in shorter time segments than traditional college credit classes.  For example, take the Creating a Successful Business Plan Class and get 24 hours of online learning over six weeks.  Or, choose the three-class Entrepreneurship Series Package.  Register online in just a few minutes!  Classes start each month.

Whether you are just starting a business or expanding an established business, the HCC Northwest Center for Entrepreneurship can assist you.  We offer aspiring and existing entrepreneurs the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a business counselor at our Center for Entrepreneurship at the HCC Alief Hayes campus.

 

We provide business counseling through our Entrepreneur-in-Residence and our strategic partners SCORE and Silver Fox Advisors.  We can also schedule mentoring appointments with strategic partners such as Constant Contact (regarding eMarketing) and with funders such as Wallis State Bank, Amegy Bank and LiftFund to assist you in building relationships to seek funding to start or grow your business.  We are here to help you succeed.  Meet with a business counselor to develop your business plan, discuss a new idea or tackle a business problem.
